Established in 2003, Cardo has focused on class-leading innovation from day one. Today, Cardo communication systems are sold in more than 100 countries, helping riders stay connected wherever their journeys take them.
In 2003, Cardo was among the few technology companies developing Bluetooth earpieces for mobile phones. Our Scala earpiece allowed users to communicate hands-free while delivering crystal-clear audio thanks to our proprietary wind-suppressing technology.
The breakthrough idea came when our founder envisioned bringing Bluetooth communication to motorcyclists. By combining Bluetooth connectivity with advanced wind-noise suppression inside a rugged waterproof housing mounted on a helmet, riders could connect to their phones, music, and fellow riders like never before.
Believing that motorcycle riding should never mean riding alone, our engineering team dedicated itself to making this vision a reality. After a year of development, Cardo launched the world's first motorcycle Bluetooth headset in 2004—the legendary Scala Rider. This revolutionary product forever changed the motorcycle riding experience.
The success of Scala Rider inspired Cardo to focus entirely on motorcycle communication technology. Our mission became clear: continuously innovate and create groundbreaking features that improve every rider's journey.
Throughout the years, Cardo has led many of the industry's most significant advancements. Following the launch of the world's first motorcycle Bluetooth headset, we introduced the world's first rider-to-rider Bluetooth communicator. In 2007, the Q2 enabled communication between two riders up to 700 meters (0.45 miles) apart, setting a new standard for motorcycle communication.
In 2009, Cardo pushed Bluetooth technology even further with the revolutionary G4, becoming the first communicator to exceed the 1-mile (1.6 km) range barrier. However, we soon recognized the limitations of Bluetooth technology and sought a better solution.
That breakthrough arrived in 2015 with the introduction of PACKTALK, the world's first Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC) system. This revolutionary technology allowed up to 15 riders to stay connected seamlessly, eliminating the frustrations associated with traditional Bluetooth pairing.
Innovation continued with the world's first communicator featuring Natural Voice Operation in 2017, followed by the first motorcycle communicator with premium sound by JBL in 2018. In 2021, Cardo introduced Over-The-Air (OTA) software updates, allowing riders to update their devices wirelessly without connecting to a computer.
More recently, Cardo introduced the first multi-platform Crash Detection system for on-road motorcyclists and intelligent Auto On/Off functionality to further optimize battery life. These innovations represent just a small part of Cardo's ongoing commitment to advancing motorcycle communication technology and enhancing the riding experience for enthusiasts around the globe.
